It’s not like I know the guy personally, but he just seems like a good dude the players can relate to. I think Stoops made a good hire with Scang, but just didn’t have the same success with Cohen. Kentucky is never going to have the same talent as some of the top SEC programs so having a really good set of coordinators is really important in Lexington when you have to really develop a lot of 3* talent. Great fit for the program and super happy he’s back for a couple of years.
I've not been high on Kentucky this year, BUT if this recent turnaround has any staying power, I think they can beat Kansas at home. I guess we'll know a lot about what the rest of the season may look like after Saturday. Auburn beat WV and I think the Hogs have a decent shot beating Baylor. I've grown to like this challenge, but understand with TX and OK leaving why the SEC is moving on.
Caveat- no kid dreams of playing at UofLoserville unless he's from Louisville. Until I moved here for work, I never actually knew or had a conversation with a UofL fan. The city itself is fine as long as you don't get lost in the west end or find yourself around Dixie Highway, but this is literally the only place in the state doesn't lean overwhelmingly for the Wildcats. But I do appreciate the enthusiasm in the video lol...
And the kid also runs an outfit to guide goose hunts on the side. I love it...
The reaction to something like this is swift and absolute. Regardless of scenario in which it occurred. Given the circumstances, I don't know what the kid really did wrong. Not directed at anyone, no hateful intent, literally just repeating the lyrics. Oh well, I haven't understood how we got to this place, but just find myself now afraid to say anything. Super weird time to be alive.
I'd be lying if I said I could really provide analysis on Florida's line last season. But they looked competent. Kentucky's didn't. Maybe part of that was Levis' injuries the limited his mobility. I don't know. But yes, for sure this kid has a lot of potential. If he pans out, good get for the Gators. There were no question marks on his behavior, so maybe he just needed a fresh start. I'm sure BN has extended conversations with kids before offering them. Good luck to him, and if he plays a part with the Gators, that's a good program and I'm happy for both.
Very well could be- not much info has come out. In fact none other than the door was open for him to return if that were his choice. I don't think he's a bad kid.
This guy had all the physical tools to get on the field as a freshman. And when you think how bad Kentucky's line was, one would think he would have seen some game action. If he actually decides to work hard and not rely on his *ranking, he could be good. Just never saw the effort at Kentucky. And I wouldn't assume he's going to break into the lineup on an even more talented team down in Gainesville. But best of luck to him.
I knew Dion would get some recruiting buzz, but I don't see it with that guy. I thought he was an arrogant (but talented) guy when he was playing and seems to be just a shiny object as a coach. Jury still out on if he can actually lead a program. See Hardaway at Memphis and Stackhouse at Vandy.
Yep, probably Bama, TN, AU then the Cats. But yes, lots of basketball to be played and at this point, it's all arbitrary until we close out the conference and see where the chips fall.
Mertz played on a team that was less focused on stretching the field. Even if Mertz were recruited to change that, you can't supplant an entire roster to change the focus of an offense overnight. Hooker and JH had a bunch of guys who had the athleticism to run that offense and that's why it's worked. I'm sure the roster in Madison was less talented and much slower than what he'll have in Gainesville. Would not surprise me to see the Gator QB end up in the top third of passers in the SEC.
I was attempting to be a little funny... Every time one of these stupid articles comes out with Levis as the top QB, people stop whatever they're doing to talk about how overrated he is and "why would anyone waste a pick on him" or "somebody will lose their job" blah blah blah.... I think it's a little funny. He may be the worst highly drafted QB since Ryan Leaf, but we'll see what happens. Either way, having a KY QB listed somewhere- anywhere- in the first round is welcome!
Will Anderson, Bryce Young and Jalen Carter in front of Levis?? What a joke! Actually, a sigh of relief... I couldn't take one more article with Levis going as the #1 pick. It just triggers people on here.
SEC basketball looks a lot like SEC football these days. Tons of talent, athleticism and extremely physical... Tide and Vols are the clear teams to beat at this point in the season with Auburn close behind. The Big XII SEC challenge this weekend is going to have some nice matchups and then the grind of finishing out conference play. I like it!
Fuzzy, what we do have in KY and TN is a whole lot of God's country. So there's that!
To put in perspective what Stoops has done for recruiting at Kentucky, this is one of the highest rated in state kid and he's a high three star. And that doesn't bother me at all- I've heard really good things about this guy and would love if he stays home to play for the Cats. But I don't think other programs with an embarrassment of riches know how good they have it. Not a knock, just providing perspective...
And one further clarification- what I meant is that Levis could be sitting there long after he expected to hear his name called. Not that he could emulate Rogers' success in the NFL.
While that may be true, if you're wearing a seatbelt, you're at least held in a place that air bags can help lessen the impact. I believe this was a 2021 which should have air bags all over it. But if you're ejected, chances go way down to survive.
Totally agree... there's no handbook on how a family should handle a tragedy, but man I would think handling the funeral and grieving would be first and foremost. The lawsuit will be there in a month.
"And all of the prognosticators could be wrong. Aaron Rogers sat at the draft through multiple rounds being passed up. That could be Will Levis" scenario (noun): a description of possible actions or events in the future
I offered a scenario (of which I admitted was flawed). I did not and am not comparing their QB performance or ability. Look, Levis may or may not be the first overall pick. He may fall out of the first round completely. As a fan of the program, I'd love for him to go early. Lord knows Kentucky hasn't been able to recruit a decent HS QB since Andre Woodson. Having Levis go high certainly can't hurt.
A lot of these comments just illustrate how disorganized collectives and NIL is becoming. If the school isn't "involved" in these deals, and they're a bystander letting the agents/collectives function outside of their prevue, this is what happens. But from my understanding, the institutions are not allowed to be in the process. The entire structure is a disaster. As dysfunctional as the NCAA has been, this could be the worst position they've taken across a myriad of other bad positions.
I stand corrected- Rogers just fell further than was expected. To be fair, as long as the draft takes, it felt like multiple rounds. I didn't compare Levis to Rogers in QB ability or QBR, so I don't have to do the math.
I don’t understand all of the hate. I mean there hasn’t been some campaign by Kentucky to get him drafted. I mean it’s not just one guy saying this- there have been numerous people projecting this. I get he didn’t have a great season this year but they must see something. Athletic ability, football IQ, I don’t know. But he’s a good teammate and has shown he’ll leave it on the field. And all of the prognosticators could be wrong. Aaron Rogers sat at the draft through multiple rounds being passed up. That could be Will Levis. But at the end of the day, he was complimentary of all teams Kentucky faces albeit Louisville. All in all, he’s a pretty good dude who happens to have some arm talent and his head is screwed on the right way. I wish him success and would think he’ll be a good ambassador for Kentucky and the SEC.
Hard to see how TCU is a better job than Arkansas... TCU had every ball bounce their way on the way to the national championship game, but then got exposed with that horrific beatdown. TCU = meh
