SEC men's basketball, Jan. 31: Underdog fantasy player over/under picks
SEC men’s basketball is back with 4 games on the slate for Tuesday night!
Several of the league’s top teams are in action, including Alabama. The Crimson Tide have a perfect 8-0 SEC record thus far.
Here’s a look at the schedule for Tuesday night:
- Mississippi State at South Carolina — 6:30 p.m. ET on SEC Network
- Texas A&M at Arkansas — 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2
- Vanderbilt at No. 4 Alabama — 8:30 p.m. ET on SEC Network
- Kentucky at Ole Miss — 9 p.m. ET on ESPN

My picks for Tuesday’s SEC slate
Let’s start with South Carolina. GG Jackson remains one of only a few bright spots for the Gamecocks this year. He continues to look like a first-round NBA Draft pick. Against a tough Mississippi State defense, the Gamecocks will need Jackson to be special in order to compete. His points+rebounds+assists total is set at 22.5. He’s hit at least 25 in his last 4 games. I expect Jackson to go “higher” than 22.5 points+rebounds+assists against the Bulldogs.
Next we’ll talk about the Texas A&M-Arkansas game. Tyrece Radford doesn’t get fazed by tough road environments. His over/under is set at 20.5 points+rebounds+assists at Arkansas on Tuesday night. In his last 2 road games, at Auburn and at Kentucky, Radford had 41 and 27 points+rebounds+assists. Therefore, I like the “higher” option for Radford’s 20.5 total against the Hogs.
Moving on to Alabama, I still think star freshman Brandon Miller is a special player, but his over/under of 28.5 points+rebounds+assists is a little too high for me. In his last 3 games, his totals have been 21, 21 and 23 points+rebounds+assists. Until he gets a little more consistency in his game, I like the “lower” option for Miller’s 28.5 points+rebounds+assists total.
Finally, we’ll discuss the nightcap, which features Kentucky hitting the road to take on Ole Miss. Big man Oscar Tshiebwe has been on a tear since being challenged by coach John Calipari. After that, he posted 62 points+rebounds+assists vs. Georgia. His over/under for points+rebounds+assists is set at 30.5 for Tuesday night. He’s hit that mark in 3 of his last 4 games. I like the “higher” option for Tshiebwe’s 30.5 points+rebounds+assists total.
How many picks should you make?
The more picks you string together, the higher the “multiplier” or payout. Of course, the more you string together, the less likely you are to win because all of the picks have to hit in order for you to win.
A 5-way parlay of the picks I listed above would pay out $100 on a $10 bet:
