Thanks friend, it's lucky for y'all that the rebs were so good all the back in the 60s-70s. Too bad about recent years.
Good stuff! Also, apparently Freddie said he spoke with Price and Dillon Johnson while at State and referred to them both as part of the team. I wonder if Johnson is going to back out of transferring.
Lmaooo you made a third account? We have to get you some friends, buddy. Or a job. You have so much free time.
I agree. We don't have any TEs on the roster at the moment lol so we'll have to find some.
I feel like a pro style offense will fair better in a conference like the SEC. I just don't think offenses like triple option, air raid, etc will really find consistent success here. I like the OC hire quite a bit. Probably won't take too much of a step back next season while learning the offense either.
Glad to hear it. Not sure what happened there since he's been heavy recruiting for State on twitter for a while.
I don't see it. They'll be better than they were this past season but I don't think they'll be ranked.
That's a bummer. Apparently there's a "do not contact" set in the portal for him meaning he already knows where he's going. Tampering, maybe? Anywho, we're fine with or without him. Next man up.
I like the hire. And no worries, if he ends up being mediocre, Auburn will hire him away.
Power 5 teams his two offenses played in that stretch: Mizzou, LSU, Wazzu, Texas A&M, and North Carolina. They went 2-3 in those games (with wins against Wazzu and Texas A&M) but only lost to the Tar Heels by two points, so essentially they were two points away from being 3-2 against power five teams in that stretch. Given that it was with Central Michigan and Appalachian State, that's not bad at all.
From the same source: Over the last two seasons, Barbay's offenses combined to averaged 448.01 yards per game and rank in the top 20 nationally. His offenses have consistently scored over 30 points per game, achieving that feat 56 percent of the time with a 33.61 points per game average.   This past season, Barbay's prolific offense ranked inside the top 25 nationally in scoring offense (No. 23 – 34.9), passer rating (No. 19 – 155.80), yards per pass attempt (No. 18 – 8.4), yards per play (No. 22 – 6.56), rushing offense (No. 21 – 204.42) and yards per rush (No. 21 – 5.18).
Per hailstate.com: Among FBS offensive coordinators since 2009, Barbay ranks per Matrix Analytical: Inside the Top 15 percent in Passing Touchdowns Per Attempt Inside the Top 20 percent in Fewest Interceptions Per Attempt Inside the Top 25 percent in both QB Rating and QB Efficiency Inside the Top 30 percent in Yards Per Attempt
Barbay runs a more pro style, run heavy offense. Although, like I said he usually takes what the defense gives him and will happily throw the ball all day if receivers keep finding themselves open downfield. Our RBs will be getting a ton more carries regardless.
Yeah I would say how Will can adapt is the biggest question mark right now. Barbay's offenses have been designed to be flexible and take ehat the defense gives them so we'll see I guess.
This does confirm we're dropping the air raid, but Barbay does still throw the ball quite a bit. Appalachian State ran the ball around 100 times more than they threw it, but they also ranked around 36 spots higher in total offense than State did, so I'm not worried about it. Woody Marks is already celebrating on twitter too, the dude is ready to shine.
I'm not mad at it. A balanced offense is never a bad thing.
I know SDS doesn't research us so I figured I would post what is actually going on.
Matt Brock is our defensive coordinator and will be calling plays. He already did in the bowl game. Also, as of this morning we have hired Kevin Barbay from Appalachian State as our offense coordinator.
Because we're married babe, you admitted it yourself a moment ago.
Nvm, it's confirmed that Bobo isn't in the running at all.
