It was only a record for Mizzou in SEC play since joining. They also had 16 3-pointers in a non-con game this season as well.
Oh Wolfy... FYI - Antlers have been around since 1976 and the name came from a Lily Tomlin dance on SNL that they mimicked in the stands. The PURPOSE of the section is to aggravate the opposing players so they can't concentrate on their game. (obviously didn't work last night) In the '80s, the group was encouraged to be disrespectful and annoying. It was just coincidence that they got the best midcourt seats every season (even with a lottery) - Only national student section that was more obnoxious was the entire DUKE student body at that time. Norm Stewart never had a problem with it. He had pre-season meetings with them -- It was obnoxious, but part of having a home-court advantage. oh well...
Plus, Mizzou didn't have as many scholarship slots to offer this year, so the class had to be on the smaller size. The quality is good for us. It would've been worse if we had 25 signees and were 32nd nationally. It's fine.
OOPS! When you accidentally hit 'PUBLISH' instead of 'DRAFTS'
Hmmm... AggiesFan12. So, when has there been a 3 conf loss team that won the East since you've been part of the SEC? (hint: hasn't happened since 2010 w/USC)
True, but thank God we finally got that orange stain out of the WH!
Chase Daniel did this same thing a couple of years ago during Bears training camp. (Even wore a bucket hat too) But still funny nonetheless!! Good on those back ups!
Well, when I was at Mizzou, it was the BIG 8. Nothing "Southwest" about it... so I guess you could say I've always felt the addition of all those Texas schools would be the "least Big 8" on my list.... Just like those in the Pac8/Pac10/Pac12, soon to be -2, would most likely claim Colorado and Utah as least identifiable. It's always the newest members who don't seem to fit...
Connor, Connor, Connor… Nakatomi Tower was located in century city (the Westside) of Los Angeles. - no where close to downtown LA…. (That’s like saying UCLA & USC are next door neighbors) ;)
Booches -- I pray we don't have a dumpster fire season this year, but I assure you there's no way we go 2-11.... We aren't getting a 13th game in that case! ;)
So, did you guys just decide it wasn't worth even writing up a "7 way too early predictions about Mizzou's offense" and summed it up with this one tidbit instead? oh well...
..but I heard we're gonna open the roof to the stadium and let the snow come in, so it won't really be ideal weather! /jk ;)
Why?! It says why clearly in the opening paragraph. To honor Richt. Nothing wrong with that. (He’s going thru a tough battle right now in case you aren’t up to speed.. check it out) …and BTW I don’t think there’s a MIZ fan who thinks this game will be competitive…. But we are still gonna play.
Thanks, "Holmes" WTF said anything about a conspiracy.. smh...LOL
Such weird scheduling that ALL East teams play on the road against the WEST in that line-up. Any chance all the permanent X-division rivals have the west going to East that year? (too lazy to look it up)
Funny, since when we got in the SEC, Kentucky was basically a sure win for Mizzou... So you got a very lucky five game streak in there. whoopdedoo.. But you guys really just ignore the fact of that bogus call to give you the 2018 game? That was pure 'ref stolen' if ever there was a game...
NOPE "attempt at joining the Big 10..." Why keep on with this nonsense? Mizzou stays in the SEC until they get kicked out for the future "SUPER LEAGUE CONFERENCE" that'll have the elites from the current conferences all bandied up together.... (psst. and not ALL the other SEC squads will make the cut either...)
Starting to think HoustonHorns is a 14yr old. If you are so unfamiliar with the documented ways that Texas twisted the big12, causing four teams to leave, then you either are super young, refusing to do any research on your own (because you constantly keep asking that questions while saying it's 100% false) OR you're just purposely being obtuse as to be trolling without admitting as such.
HoustonHorns85 - My 'personal' beef is that one of my closest friends out here in L.A., is a longhorn. Ugh.... haha.. I think the 'beef' though you ask about would be better understood reading some of the articles about it from 12 yrs ago. Today's students have no idea about that history, so I don't see the problem... but for those who lived thru the Big Eight to Big 12 to unequal pay distribution, to flirting with the Pac10 to the LHN, its still a sore spot. But to your specific queries: 1) Ummm. Go look at the smug quote by Dodds when he said "Our bad years are not that bad. Take a school like Missouri. Our bad years are better than their good years." 2) The two instances of leaving the conference (NU/COLO) then (A&M/MIZ) were in reactions to Texas exerting power to be above the rest of conference... 3) No clue. Never paid attention. I was a Big 8 guy. Suddenly my alma mater was in the Big 12. I missed when that happened because I was out of the country working on a film at the time. But seriously... I don't think the current Mizzou admin or student body has much of a grievance with Austin.
Unclenutz... People randomly throw that out there, but hell no, the SEC is top dog. Why would Mizzou want to switch now? They did originally ask to join the big10, because a)They never thought SEC was possible and b) they fit the perfect profile as an AAU school. Why in the world would the university say, "hey, let's move down a notch and go to big10?"
Mizzou LOVES the SEC (even if it isn't reciprocated by some school's fanbases) We aren't going anywhere else....
Dude, Missouri has scheduled PLENTY of these type deals. Fun when we went to Wyoming and lost! ugh....
1960 season.... should've been awarded the title that year.
