Friend and Turner better be awesome, or another transition season is going to be frustrating. Those lines are the only way to keep the wins from dipping this year.
BTW, I admittedly don't know Barbary's offense very well at all. I knew what Leach was doing and why, but no idea about Barbary.
You and I differed on the offense under Leach. However, I do think this could be a good fit for our offense. I'm a little concerned about Will Rogers running an offense that is completely different than the one he ran the last 9 years.
I don't agree with including postseason now. Many of the best players transfer and sit out games to declare for the NFL. Players who play against those teams aren't playing against the best. Also, Stetson Bennett is great. And if he won the Heisman, I would have understood. However, he never played a game versus that Georgia defense either. The TCU QB did. Caleb Williams had a great bowl game and he won, so I don't think that should have changed the winner.
For example, Michigan State had MSU before Mississippi State ever used it. Mississippi State was originally A&M.
I'm curious about this. When was the first publication where the University of Tennessee and University of South Carolina are referenced as UT and USC? Is there a proof in print? I'm betting there is, but I am curious.
That has to be a reference to something that happens in the Florida Keys. I've never seen anyone do that in Starkville. Is there a menu item for this at Lil Dooey's now?
Good for Brock. Arnett knows him and worked directly with him, so it should be a smooth transition.
I'm interested in who else from the offense will leave. I really don't expect many (if any) more.
No way! This offense has been recruited to throw. That would be a huge change in direction and guarantees a steep learning curve. No way Zach has that kind of leash to make it through at 2 year try out. The new AD is going to bring in his guy if Zach Arnett doesn't win quickly. His best chance is to bring in someone that the offense will continue on with the personnel we have. (Will Rogers, Tulu G, Marks, etc...)
Well, he's going to sit a year since Will is coming back.
If Arnett is comfortable with him then they should run it back for a year.
Of course this is expected. The new OC will have a hand in his staff, so they are all on the same page. Leach was in so much control the positional offensive coaches didn't matter too much.
This SEC season is going to be tough! It's crazy to think you can be 10-3 and ranked in the bottom half of the league.
It's weird that I will miss a man I never met. Some of the things I will miss are the things we never experienced. There was an infectious charisma about him that would have left a fun culture at State. RIP Coach Leach.
State hasn't been playing as cohesive on offense as they were earlier in the season. There have been a lot of missed layups and bad shots due to poor ball movement. I feel like they move the ball to go through the offense instead of moving the ball to create good shots.
Well, you are going to have to apologize to Les if he is so plugged into Nathaniel Watson's situation that Watson texts him twice every day saying he's leaving and/or coming back.
To play along, if Auburn changes their name to the War Eagles, maybe State needs a descriptor for their Dawgs. So War Eagles, Pirate Dawgs, Land Sharks, etc...
I would 100% ask him if he was interested in being a millionaire and show him a $1,000,000 contract.
Money isn't the reason Hatcher wouldn't take the position. Once a coach gets the experience for being a HC, it is tough to leave that position for an OC. It's not the NFL.
This seems like the smartest play for Arnett. His HC position won't be threatened. If Riley comes, he could be a "coach in waiting". Also, Arnett needs to start well. Since Will Rogers is returning it makes no sense to change to a completely different offense. Also, the administration lacks an AD, so this would be an easier sell. The only problem is convincing Hatcher to leave a HC position for an OC position. That's a tough sell.
I don't know if that should directly affect anything towards the player. I've met many kids that are embarrassed by their parents and they way they act. The parents could give insight into the kid's attitude or they could just be delusional.
We are good due to coaching and defense. That will travel and compete everywhere. I don't think we have the horses to score with everyone though. We are probably properly ranked from 12-28.
