You would think that with 9 5* players, Bama could find at least 4 starters from that group. That is the major difference in 5* players, they are supposed to be able to start faster than their peers. So, you are correct. Bama should find some college ready players to throw in the mix.

Lazy journalism, but that is no surprise. People have been asking the same questions about replacing the QB since AJ left, and Bama has seemed to find one that is serviceable. Bama, as well as every other team, loses their top talent on a regular basis, and they still have managed to find replacements. Oh, I guess you didn't know but Bama requires the OCs to run the Bama offense, with their own tweaks of course. They do not come in and change everything including terminology, they adapt their system to the Bama system and terminology.

The #1 pick has no meaning other than it gives simple minded sportswriters something to write about because they can think of nothing else. It is picked based on need, not because they are necessarily better than 2-5. If you have the #1 pick and need a QB you are not going to choose an edge rusher, just as if you have a QB but need a defensive tackle/Offensive tackle you are not going to choose a QB. No matter how good they are.

Dieon has not shown he can coach or run a program that has a pulse against real competition. The players you mentioned have not shown that they can excel at a level that is just above high school. You can bet that the PAC12 is going to be light years ahead of the SWAC.

As a kid by life was divided into seasons. Football, college basketball, and baseball. The announcers were a big part of that life. Billy Packer and Al McGuire were a huge part of that childhood. May he rest in peace.
