Derek Mason, former SEC coach, taking sabbatical from coaching
Derek Mason has announced that he’s taking a sabbatical from coaching. The former Vanderbilt head coach revealed his decision on Twitter. Mason most recently finished a season as Oklahoma State’s defensive coordinator.
“I have been blessed during my tenure at Oklahoma State to work alongside Coach Gundy. His leadership and consistency are unmatched in the profession. To the student-athletes I have had the privilege to coach, your future is strong on and off the field. I valued our time together and love ya!…I wish you all continued success in 2023. God bless. Go Pokes.”
The 53-year-old Mason served as Vanderbilt’s head coach from 2014-20 and compiled a 27-55 record. Mason guided Vanderbilt to bowl appearances in 2016 and 2018 with 6-win seasons. Mason was also Auburn’s defensive coordinator during the 2021 season.

I.e. you can either be fired or you can resign to spend more time with your family.

Just an FYI: What’s the endgame here, Hillbilly?
When the Dawgs don’t lose a single regular season game next year, including yet another Hillbilly beatdown, you know it just won’t be me reminding you of this, right?
Or is your brain so broken by your Georgia envy that nothing matters and you just don’t care?

Corch…It must be very sad to be a Vol fan…not ever having a positive comment on anything not Vol-related. They do not even support the SEC teams in Bowl games of the Playoffs. One(1) good year of football and they cannot even seem to enjoy it; only criticize and berate the other schools. Poor things; I believe their glass is always half empty.
Afan We live rent free in your head…
Always talking about vol fans this… vol fans that…
Vol fans can take what should be a feel good story, like their Baseball and Basketball teams last season and make everyone glad to see them lose. They are just the worst.
THat’s very ironic of you Dawgs2021.
I’m only doing to you what you and Corch do to TN fans that do nothing.
Karma’s a B**ch isn’t it?

Well wishes coach Mason.
I still want to know the three games the nimrod volfanFL thinks UGA will lose next season?
He’s a gwhite wannabe.
Think about how sad that makes volfanFL if he looks up to gwhite.
In NO way do I want to be gwhite lmao
1998.
GWhite just says what most Vol fans think. Delusional.
So you’re telling me that thinking about losing a game on purpose is what most of us think?
No.

Tennessee.
Auburn.
South Carolina.
A South Carolina loss is inevitable at this point bc Georgia hasn’t lost to them already.
A Tennessee win is also inevitable because after 6 years it just is. Losses to South Carolina? That’s your deal lol. Auburn? Georgia has owned them as badly if not worse than the sorry azz Vols lol. Nice try.
That’s why I said…

South Carolina isn’t winning in Athens again as long as Kirby is there, after what happened a couple of years ago, especially the postgame trimming of the hedge.
Well never say never, but I don’t see it. If Georgia has a loss, it’ll probably come in the SEC championship or playoffs.
