He played more at Alabama than he did at Oklahoma. His degree is from Alabama. Everyone at Alabama understood why he transferred and no one is upset about it. He accomplished more at Alabama than he did at Oklahoma - does he have any National Championship rings from Oklahoma? He played at both schools and was a very significant player at both so I see no reason both schools should not be able to claim him. I believe Jalen considers himself as an Alabama guy. But anyone saying it is wrong for either school to claim him is just way off base and probably has some kind of agenda. Ignore them.
Terry Bradshaw started the song and handed the mic to Jalen after the song started. Jalen probably wanted no part of leading the song but was a good sport and did his best. At that point I doubt if anyone in the stadium cared that his rendition wasn't all that good.
Looks as if that is not so serious of a transgression after all. I fail to understand why that isn't a unexcusable thing under ANY circumstances. Either it is or it isn't - if one thinks it is OK under certain conditions then it should be OK under others.
In a team sport it is sometimes difficult to separate individual accomplishment from the team's accomplishments. In the recent championship game Bennett had great numbers but what most people saw was Georgia receivers getting wide open and the QB making a lot of routine throws. As A Bama fan I found it interesting that Bennett was compared to A J McCarron and Greg McElroy. IMO Bennett was not as good a QB as McCarron but was very similar to McElroy, both played on superior teams that required a QB to not make mistakes and to make good decisions. Both had good enough players around them so that they did not have to be great for their teams to win. Bennett should be celebrated for what he is - the back to back starter on National Championship teams. Georgia had several players on those teams who probably should get into the Hall of Fame but I don't think Bennett should be one of them just because he was the QB.
Everyone in a vehicle that shots are fired from and kills someone is charged with Capital Murder. Doesn't matter who fired the gun. Since Miles apparently did not fire the gun, it is very possible that his charges will be reduced after a complete investigation is finished. The fact that is was his gun doesn't help him.
Oskie is correct on one important point. It is not the fact that she was out at 1:45 that got her killed. It was the company she was keeping. It has been a while since my kids were students but I can recall walking through the strip late at night and realizing the difference between students just out for a good time and those who appeared to be spoiling for a fight. Most people never got into a fight if they were not inclined to do so. But it would be awfully easy to get in one if so inclined.
When you lose 65-7 you did a BUNCH of things wrong. Many were so obvious even a European soccer fan could have seen them. When you lose 65-7 in a National Championship game that you earned your way into? Well, it seems to me than the only real explanation for that is that they were 58 points better than you are.
I think more TV analysts need to say what they actually think. Too many are told what to say and just act like parrots. How are we supposed to figure out which analysts are worth listening to if they are not allowed to reveal how dumb so many of them are?
What is the criteria to make the playoffs? This year raised some interesting questions. Should a two loss team be completely discounted? A few years ago Auburn would have been in the playoff after beating back to back #1 teams Georgia and Alabama if they had won the SEC Championship game. NO ONE would have even blinked at the fact that they had two losses. So should two loss teams not be considered? What about how much you lose by? Alabama'a two losses were on a last second field goal and on a two point extra point in overtime. Ohio State lost by three touchdowns at home. Tennessee lost twice as well and neither game was close. Do bad losses keep you out - even if you only had one of them? What about the true experts of college football - the odds makers in Vegas who declared that Alabama would be favored to beat any team except Georgia. The guys risk millions on their opinions. Anyone who watched Alabama against K State yesterday got full exposure to how good Bryce Young is when he is healthy. He was not any where close to 100% in either of Alabama's losses. Does Alabama get extra consideration for that? As an Alabama fan I thought Alabama should have been in over Ohio State if the criteria was the better team. But at the same time I understand that you just can't lose twice - and we did. So there are no complaints here, we just didn't check enough boxes. But for all of those fans who hate to see Alabama in the playoffs - enjoy while you can. We'll see you next year!
What do I think. The same thing I've always thought. LeBron just isn't very bright. It is a good thing he skipped college and turned pro out of high school. I've never thought he would have been smart enough to pass college courses. And now he doesn't know much about football either! And I'm NOT a Tennessee fan!
There is an old saying that it is better to be silent and thought to be a fool than to speak up and remove all doubt. There are a bunch of keyboard warriors in the thread above that the saying applies to. I'm not saying Golding has done a great job but I can see the limitations of the Alabama defense (did anyone watch us try to cover Hyatt?). I'd guess most of the posters don't know much about football - either that or they are perfectionists who don't dare ever look in the mirror when they shave.
Talk is cheap. Over 60+ years of following college football I've seen players who seem to be convinced that they are going to win the game Saturday - often when they are 30+ point underdogs and have virtually no chance. Ohio State players know they are a capable team who could beat anyone on a given day. Of course they think they are going to win. The problem is that they really don't know how good Georgia is and that they are probably wrong. But after all, that is why they play - so we'll just have to see.
Alabama has signed a top kicker in this year's class. That in itself is never a guarantee but it appears Alabama will have a pretty good kicker next year.
Most kickers win jobs in camp after signing a free agent contract. Will probably hopes to be drafted but often players who are not drafted are better off than those who are. Being drafted means a player is obligated to play for the one team that drafted him - and it may not be a good fit for him. When you can choose which team you want to sign with you can, in effect, choose your competition for the job. Good luck to Will - he appears to be good enough to play in the NFL.
This article has enough truth in it that many people will swallow the whole thing. There is a huge difference in offering prospects money up front and in explaining to recruits that if they come to a school and play well there will be great opportunity to make money. The latter is how NIL is supposed to work - the former is against NCAA rules (not that anyone cares about the NCAA any more). Saban did not care even a little bit that Fisher had a great class last year. What he did care about was losing a bunch of recruits to A&M who told him that the money at A&M was too great to turn down. Saban played by the rules and Fisher did not and it hurt Alabama badly. Everyone will draw their own conclusions as to what changed this year but it is clear that Saban found some way to combat the money other schools were passing around. It should be possible to show recruits how much Young, Anderson and McKinstry are making in NIL and convince them that Alabama is the best opportunity - without paying them up front. As an Alabama fan I don't know if we are still doing it the right way - and neither does anyone else who will post in this thread.
Alabama finished second to A&M last year on a LOT of players. Those players told Saban they were signing with A&M due to the money. He got his info from as good of a source as could be had. And it was not just one player but quite a few of them. Fisher should be grateful that Saban did not name names. But coaches don't do that - look at Mack Brown as an example, he knows the names of the two coaches who offered his QB $5,000,000 to transfer. But he won't name names. The coaches have the power to stop the rule breaking but are unwilling to speak up to stop it. In a way they are all cowards.
It would be interesting if Ricks sued you for defamation of character. I'd like to see the evidence you would use in court. By the way, if you want to be taken seriously you could use a remedial English class. When you write like a 12 year old people are liable to believe you are 12 years old. You are good for comic relief - nothing more.
UK 8th in the SEC? Not so fast, my friend. Look at who everyone has played - several of the teams you listed will finish toward the bottom when SEC play starts. UK will be OK - Oscar is beginning to get back into top playing condition. No one in the SEC is taking them lightly.
Should not be a surprise opinion. Vegas experts have weighed in that Alabama would be favored over every team in the playoff except Georgia. These people risk millions of dollars if they are wrong about their opinions so I never take them lightly. The committee has always drawn a line in the sand that two loss teams don't get in. I did not expect them to put Alabama in due to this. But Alabama's two losses were with Bryce Young at considerably less than 100%. Now that Bryce is healthy, none of those teams would prefer playing Alabama. Georgia fans have seen enough of Alabama lately to realize they would rather be playing anyone else. Your posts clearly point this out.
Arguing over how good LSU's chances to win are seems a bit pointless. UGA is favored by 17 - and that is because they are not an explosive offensive team. Maybe LSU can come up with a game similar to the one Kentucky recently pulled off. Georgia only won by 10 but it never appeared that Kentucky had a chance in the game. As far as LSU's chances go, I'd say their chance to win is a lower % that most 17 point underdogs. Georgia may not put up a large margin but many viewers will turn the channel about the time the 4th quarter starts.
So, obviously you think Alabama should have been National Champs last year if not for the injuries? And Alabama should have beaten Auburn in 2019? I suspect you are a hypocrite.
Methinks you doth protest too much. Your post is absolute proof that you ARE terrified of that. Safety at Texas? That shows you do not understand the rules of football. Personally I don't think two loss teams should be in. And why aren't you ranting about the talk that LSU could get in? But every site needs some comic relief. You certain provide that on a regular basis.
OK, everyone knows it isn't the word itself - it is who says it and the context being used. Sometimes it is offensive and sometimes it isn't. All too often it is offensive when it really shouldn't be. This seems to be one of those times to me.
A blowout sometimes is not determined by the final margin. UGA was up 3 scores in the first half and stayed that way until late in the game. Maybe not quite a blowout but it was a comfortable no-stress win. I switched channels at halftime because there were more competitive games on. I don't buy the idea that it is hard to beat a team a second time - if you are good enough to beat then the first time, usually you are good enough to beat them again. But the loser usually learns more lessons from the first game and I was very surprised how well UGA held up against the UT offense. I think UT would do better if given a second chance. It would be as interesting a game as any other potential playoff foe for UGA.
Kind of ironic that a post that is pure crybaby is accusing someone else of being a crybaby. Are you 12 years old?
I'd bet a lot of money that Saban doesn't really like the playoff expansion. His recent comments are showing he is a pragmatic man - the decision has already been made and it isn't going to go away. Saban almost always supports decisions that college football makes and even though it is a "change of opinion" he is doing so as to not rock the boat over something he can't change anyway.
The top teams in the country should not have to play a bunch of games in the playoffs to gain a National Championship. The notion that the #12 team could win 4 games in a row against higher ranked teams is crazy. The gap between #12 and the top teams is quite large. The 12 team playoff is NOTHING more than a money grab. How many fans can afford to travel to see 3 or 4 playoff games that might be long trips? When you take the ability away from the team's fans to go to the games - football is the loser. This will make the couch potato fans happy because they can watch more games but the real fans will lose out. It also will eventually kill the bowls because once the playoffs start expanding they don't stop. 68 teams in basketball anyone? And there is talk of expanding to 96!
I always thought it was more insulting to refuse to score when you clearly could. I do have to wonder if Drinkwitz's thoughts were the same as his classy comments after the game? What goes around comes around - but it might take a while. I doubt Mizzou forgets this one.
You were right on track until your last sentence. Those are terrible reasons to keep a coach on staff. Auburn has had enough cheerleaders lately - they should hire a good coach instead.
